CEGER was commissioned by Zues Media Consult to conduct comprehensive research into the history of conflict in Uganda spanning nearly six decades, from independence in 1962 through to 2020. The project involves extensive desk research, archival analysis, and stakeholder interviews to document the political, ethnic, and regional dynamics that have contributed to conflict and shaped governance and peace-building efforts across the country.
The research covers major episodes including the Idi Amin era, the liberation wars, the Lord’s Resistance Army insurgency in northern Uganda, and contemporary political tensions. The aim is to produce a thorough, balanced account that serves as a reference for researchers, policymakers, and media professionals seeking to understand the historical roots of Uganda’s governance challenges and the ongoing journey towards lasting peace and reconciliation.
